A challenge to Hardin's "Tragedy of the Commons"
Check out this article, suggested by Carol Maclennan, for an optimistic response to Hardin's "Tragedy of the Commons," making the point that sustainable common resource management is not necessarily linked to any particular property rights regime.

Are we "hard-wired for greed"? Or can we base society on empathy?
I thought this video was an interesting take on what drives us as humans and I think it is a really big thing for us to think about as we talk about the commons.

Mollie Here, Checking In!
Hello,
My name is Mollie, and I am a 2nd year undergrad student at Michigan Tech (MTU). I went to Sonora for the Rural Sustainability Field study in May and really enjoyed the experience. I am majoring in environmental engineering and sustainability is the reason I wanted to pursue my major. I am very excited to be collaborating with all the universities again because I feel that conversation across borders and disciplines is the most important thing to work toward sustainability.
More later,
~Mollie Ruth
